Who am I ?

I'm Tomas Papan and I currently work as a software developer in Scheidt & Bachmann. I focus my attention on the new trends of programming, with special interest in low-level C, unix/linux kernel development, web application development and administration of unix based OSes. Other areas of my interest are photography, physics, philosophy, mathematics, music and movies.

What's it about?

... to be honest, it is all just about me :) I, as any other human being tend to forget things. So that's why I decided to start writing my own blog. I would also like to share some pictures and advantures with my family and friends. If this blog can help you in any way it would be just a sweet bonus for me. Enjoy :)

If you'd like to contact me, please feel free to send me an encrypted (or not) email at

Fast and reliable VPN using docker and digitalocean

I've been using openvpn for a long time, but I was having some problems with performance. I've decided to change the usual approach of having openvpn installed on my host machine and move it to docker. I'm using my own server, but in this blog post I will show you how to do it with digitalocean.

I'm back home! In Spisska Bela... My hometown. It's good to be back, it's just for 2 days, but still. I need to travel back to Sweeden so it's a really short visit and I have my trusty fujifilm x-t1 with fish eye, you know what that means. A lot of crazy pictures.

Skellefteå IV 2015

I've been a bit busy lately. I'm going to change my job and I'm still in Sweden. Quite a few people asked me about the winter here in Sweden and I must say it was beautiful. I have seen northern lights and 90% solar eclipse.
